Who doesn’t love the color yellow? For me, it is the color of the sun, of glorious sunflowers, of the warm fire, of my favourite butterscotch ice cream, the brand colors of Forever 21, of my mom’s special ‘kadhi’ (an Indian main-course dish)!! And also of lemons! 😀 Precisely the scent of the new Baby Lips Electro Pops in Fierce N Tangy. How glad I am that Maybelline finally brought these babies to India. These pretty neon colored tubes would really add a dash of color of our lives these winters! These were around in International markets for about a year, and finally came to India. Yippi!
So people, let’s get to the review.
Ingredients:
Claims:
Packaging: It was love at first sight for me..a luxe black tube with ‘Baby Lips’ written in bold neon yellow, and the transparent cap, giving a peekaboo of the bright yellow bullet of the cutest lip balm to have ever been launched in India. The balm is a regular twist-up packing, more like the Nivea Fruity Shine lip balms, and quite different from the regular Baby Lips that is sold in India. I love the packing!! 🙂
My Experience: I love Baby Lips Color range. And then I heard the news about the launch of the Electro Pops range. I can’t keep myself away from neon, so buying this was an absolute necessity 😀 I have been using this one for a couple of days only.
Color and Scent: Don’t let the bright tweety yellow mislead you to believe it will leave your lips a garish tint of Neon Yellow. As stated on the packing, it really has almost no color on the lips. At most, it will just leave a soft pale tint, hardly noticeable. The scent is a citrusy lemon, which lingers only for about a minute. I like it as it is quite a unique lip balm flavour in India. However, it is not my favourite scent. I’m more a vanilla and caramel scent favouring person.
Effectiveness, Moisturization: Baby Lips Electro Pop is enriched with Shea Butter, an awesome moisturising agent and Vitamin E. I personally felt that this particular variant requires about 3 swipes to completely cover my lips; just one or two swipes don’t seem effective. I personally found it to be a bit low on moisturizing power, compared to the regular Baby Lips Color. It, however, seems a good lip balm for general use. It keeps lips soft and hydrated. The 8 hour claim is totally wrong, as this works only for about 2 hours, especially in the cold weather. It will not work on extremely chapped lips though, so you can use this one only when your lips are already in good condition, but need some protection. Overall, I love it for its unique color, scent and amazingly cute packing. Just looking at this makes me feel so good!
Price: Rs 135 for the Fierce N Tangy variant, rest of the range is priced at 165 each, probably as the yellow variant has no color payoff. The quantity of this range is lesser than that of regular Baby Lips (3.5 grams compared to 4.5 grams)
Shelf Life: 3 years
Pros and Cons:
PROs:
- Unique packing, cute color, NEON, what’s not to love?
- Sturdy packing
- Good moisturization for healthy lips
CONs:
- Not as effective as Baby Lips Color in moisturization
- The lemon scent might not be the favourite for all
Rating: 3.5/5
Repurchase: Yep!! I’m getting the Pink Shock next. Hope it gives better moisturization!
