My last few posts have revolved a lot around chocolates and chocolate based goodies 😉 (Read review for Kit-Kat Senses Dark here, and Good-Day Chunky cookies here 🙂 ) So you must have realized how severely addicted I am to chocolates. I go weak in the knees at the mere mention of any new chocolate. And so is the case for lip balms/butters/glosses. I’m a freak when it comes to collecting lip balms. Hence, a combination of chocolate AND lip balm is a ‘Go-bag-it-right-away’ signal for me!
My first ever proper stick lip balm that I got madly addicted to, was by Nivea (their Fruity Shine Pomegranate lip balm). As soon as I got hooked to lip balms, it was lip butters that were taking the world by storm. How could I not be tempted by something that even sounds so deliciously heavenly? So many companies were coming up with their lines of lip butters. Our good ol’ Nivea launched their range of lip butters in India in 2013 in 2 flavors, Caramel Cream and Raspberry Rose (you guessed it right, I bought both of them, I’m soooo greedy!) I had loved them to bits! (Though I always wanted them to launch the ‘Vanilla and Macadamia’ flavour in India, which sells in a lot of countries abroad…I hope Nivea people are hearing me!) A couple of weeks back, Nivea announced on Facebook that 2 new flavours of lip butters are about to join the lip butter family in India! I went berserk when I came to know that the flavours are ‘Cocoa’ and ‘Blueberry Blush’! Gosh, I was super excited and ordered one right away from Flipkart.
So, let’s get to the review 🙂
Ingredients:
Packaging: The reason I fell so badly for these was the cutest possible tins that these come in! Some of you might not be very fond of tins and pot type of lip balms, due to the hygiene reasons, but I happily ignore that factor, coz cuteness comes first for me! I always make it a point to wash my hands before dipping my fingers into the product, so I really don’t mind. This one comes in a tin similar to the previous lip butters. However, the outer packing has changed, and changed for the better. Earlier, they came in a cardboard box that didn’t even have a proper sealing to ensure that the product remained untampered. Now, the packing has been revived, with a good plastic blister pack. Thank you Nivea.
One major drawback with this particular tin of cocoa butter has been the immense difficulty in opening it. I never faced such a problem with the previous 2 tins, they were easy enough to open, but this cocoa butter tin has me pulling it hard from all directions, using my nails and a lot of energy to get to my lip butter. Phew! I hope this is a one-off defective tin.
My Experience: The hard-to-open tin apart, I completely love the product.
Color, Scent: Upon opening the tin for the first time, you witness perfection. Perfectly set, unscathed lip butter in the tin is a feast for the eyes! The color of this variant is a very pale brownish yellow, which is exactly how anyone would imagine real cocoa butter to look like! The scent is amazing.. It reminds me of rich cocoa, with a hint of coffee. This scent would linger on your lips for a couple of minutes only. Nivea, you have won over my senses with this product!
Moisturization and Efficacy: Another reason why I love love lovvve this butter is that it actually works. It is not gimmicky. Not at all. When you put it on, your lips would seem to be dipped in a cloud, or a velvety cushion, or a silky scarf..it is that soft..and it is supremely smooth on the lips. It immediately reduces lines on my lips, and they look and feel extremely moisturized when I apply this. This is going to be my night-time favourite, just like the previous two tins.
The quantity of lip butter that you get is HUMONGOUS. The little tin is packed to the brim with the product, so one tin would literally last you forever. I am still left with significant amounts in my previous tins, which I plan to use as cuticle rescue now! 😀
One more disadvantage with these butters is that, if you happen to apply a slightly large amount on your lips, they appear white. This problem was a little higher with the older flavours, but this new one doesn’t leave your lips as starkly white as the Caramel or Raspberry Rose ones did. Honestly, I would suggest that you take really little quantity of it, ‘coz you really need just a hint of it to do its job. It is that effective.
FFS Rating: 4/5 (-1 just ‘coz of the pain in the neck tin, which is giving me a tough time)
Price: Rs 200 for 16.7 grams or 19 ml of the product
Where to buy: This can be bought online only as of now, from Flipkart. You can buy it here.
PROs and CONs:
PROs:
- BEST. LIP. BUTTER. EVER.
- Too good on moisturization
- The scent is awesome. I just love anything that reminds me of chocolate!
- The tin is uber cute (it looks amazing, sitting on your office desk, I’m telling from personal experience!)
- Huge quantity for a decent price
- If you happen to get bored of it as a lip butter, and still have a lot of it left, simply use it for your fingers and toes! Though a bit sticky for this purpose, I feel it works well on these dry areas
CONs:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
- This particular tin is very very hard to open. I hope this resolves in a few days…
- Hygiene. You have to wash your hands before pulling this out of the bag to apply…well it makes me wash my hands more often, so I remain cleaner too! Hehehe.. 😀
Repurchase: Yep. Some new flavour though (I’m looking at you now, Ms. Blueberry Blush! 🙂 )
Final Word: If you want a lip balm that really works, plus you don’t mind dipping your hands in a pot for the purpose, I strongly recommend this cute tin which has been very kindly formulated by Nivea for our moisture-thirsty lips! Highly recommended.

Ohh ya i already looted him on his bday just two days ago and went on two trip 😜 so now not to ask anything. Do a review on Loreal Paris Star Collection of Reds.
Yeah, I’m thinking of getting one of those, but you know I already have about 35 lipsticks right now,,one more in the house and I’ll be kicked out 😱 plus L’Oréal has gone crazy with the pricing…its a 1000 bucks for one Star Reds..Phew!!

Exactly! 1 lippy for 1k..that too a L’Oréal. .I’d rather buy a MAC one for 1500..at least the brand factor would make me feel good for a few days 😂😜
True that.. Instead i can buy revlon.. Revlon is so amazing and pocket friendly too ?
And I totally love Revlon lip crayons.. I adore Revlon..and Maybelline too! God bless these brands for still keeping a slight check on prices..☺

just bought this and I am in love!
This is one of my most favourite lip products ever ☺
I love this product, it’s one of my favourite night time lip balms. I agree that it can leave your lips a bit white which is why I use it at night as my bed does not mind this. 😉 Lovely photos btw.x
Thank you 🙂 i sometimes even use this to tone down a bright lipstick as the whiteness of this balm mellows down the stark colors!
