The Body Shop Indian Night Jasmine Perfume Oil Review, Price, Buy Online India

Hola amigos! I’m back 🙂 Apologies for disappearing, but now I’m back, and will be writing regularly. Sometimes your schedule is so packed that you have no time to do the things you love… isn’t that the saddest thing in life, that you get so wrapped up in the “routine” which leaves you so empty and numb?

Well, sadness no more, coz I’m going to tell you about this superb product! Let’s not give away too much and begin the review!

I love experimenting with fragrances, but floral is the scent family I adore. So more often, you’ll find me asking store attendants about some white floral scents or something that smells of wildflowers!

I bought this perfume oil a couple of months back. I knew the moment I laid my eyes on this cute bottle that this is going into my handbag! It has rescued me on days when I forget to spritz some perfume on before leaving home, hence this cutie is my special friend 🙂

Ingredients: Parfum/Fragrance (Fragrance), Linalool (Fragrance Ingredient), Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone (Fragrance Ingredient), Coumarin (Fragrance Ingredient), Benzyl Salicylate (Fragrance Ingredient), Citronellol (Fragrance Ingredient), Hexyl Cinnamal (Fragrance Ingredient), Hydroxycitronellal (Fragrance Ingredient), Benzyl Benzoate (Solvent)

Claims: These claims have been taken from TBS India website:

Escape to India with night jasmine. A concentrated perfume oil infused with Indian Night Jasmine. This seductive, feminine blend of floral and oriental accords was inspired by a moonlit night in a Mughal garden.

  • Oriental scent
  • Long-lasting
  • Alcohol-free
  • Layer with other Indian Night Jasmine products to build the fragrance

Packaging: This perfume oil comes in a super cute, tiny round glass bottle. It comes with a screw cap which has an attached plastic rod that can be used to apply the oil on your body. I carry this all the time in my handbag inside a silicon coin pouch (you know, this is a glass bottle after all, and I never take chances!) It has never leaked, but I do make sure to screw on the cap really tight. I wish that TBS dumped this plastic rod thing from the pack and introduced a roll-on instead. That would make application very easy even in a moving car or metro (right now, if I apply this in the car, I’m always worried that I will spill the product all over…). Plus, the other day, this rod gave away and got detached from the cap 🙁 I managed to re-attach it, but if it breaks away permanently, I wonder how I will apply this oil..

My Experience: I had been seeing these bottles in TBS stores for a lonnnng time, and finally when I did decide to buy it, I got completely addicted to it!

I always prefer to buy the strongest perfumes, so instead of going for this fragrance in the EDT or body mist form, I invested in the concentrated perfume oil.

FFS Suggestion: For the Indian climate, I suggest that you always buy the stronger perfume formulations. So, get yourself an EDP instead of an EDT, or in this case, invest in the concentrated perfume oil instead of the body mists. The reason is pretty obvious: the milder versions would just not work in the hot, sweaty Indian summers!

Coming back to the review, let me describe how this perfume oil is to be used. You just need to dab on a couple of drops of this oil onto your pulse points, using the plastic rod it has inside. This can be called a fancily packed “ittr” (the Indian name for a strong perfume oil). I know, a lot of you might completely despise those little bottles of strong smelling oil, but I love using these, and have already discovered and loved a lot of local ittrs as well! More about that sometime later…!

I like to use it behind my ears, on my wrists and on my neck. Despite using it quite often, I haven’t begun to see any change in the level of the product in the bottle, just indicating how little you would need 🙂 this totally gets a thumbs up from me! The oil doesn’t leave any greasiness or oiliness on the skin. Also, this is alcohol free, so you’re getting an undiluted scent 🙂

Talking about the scent, it is a beautiful, sweet, mildly floral, oriental scent. I can’t describe in words how happy this fragrance makes me. You can find me dabbing this perfume oil even during the middle of the day sitting at my office desk. Whenever I feel stressed, I just sniff it up a bit from my wrist, and it gives me a sense of joy. You can even call it a romantic fragrance 😀 Gosh, I sound like I’m in love! But yes, I am definitely in love with this scent. Thanks TBS, again, for introducing such a pretty little thing!!

Longevity: This perfume oil lasts about 6 hours on me. This would be even less if you’re outdoors, or sweating. In an air-conditioned environment (or probably in a colder climate), it lasts upto 6 hours. This is pretty decent considering you are using only a couple of drops. Plus the best part is that this tiny bottle is so handy that it can fit in the tiniest of clutches or sling bags, and you can touch it up on the go. This is why I love ittr also 🙂

Quantity and Price: Rs 895 for 15 ml of the product.

Where to Buy: TBS counters across the world! You can buy it online from TBS India website here.

FFS Rating: 5/5 (I completely forgive the stupid plastic rod given how happy this fragrance makes me)

Pros and Cons:

PROs:

  1. The scent is absolutely gorgeous and feminine
  2. Very little goes a very long way! A bottle can easily last you upto a year or two
  3. You can layer up the scent using other products from the Indian Night Jasmine line of products. I currently layer it up with Honeymania body butter (read review for Honeymania Body Butter here, Honeymania Shower Gel here), and they get along really well!
  4. Travel friendly cute bottle (do handle with care though!)
  5. Easily available in TBS stores
  6. I find it worth the price, as this 895 rupees investment would last me really very long!

CONs:

  1. The plastic rod needs to go! It detached while I was using it once… 🙁 TBS, consider this a personal request from me to put roll-ons instead of these delicate plastic rods.

Final Word: Girls, next time you’re on the look-out for a budget fragrance under Rs 1000, step into a nearby TBS store and try this one on. If the fragrance agrees with you, you will never once regret this purchase 🙂 This scent has become my favourite, and might become one of yours too, it is soooo good!
