The Body Shop Rainforest Moisture Hair Butter Review, Price

TBS Rainforest Moisture Hair Butter 2

Girls are pretty possessive about their hair. And they most frequently complain about their hair!

That is a vicious cycle.. you can’t cut it too short..you can’t maintain it when it gets too long.. no matter what you do it breaks like anything.. our complaints about our hair never end! And believe you me.. since the time I have started this blog, the most number of queries that come to me are from girls about their hair! So my very first review for a hair-care product is for all you girls! Read on 🙂

I myself belong to the category of girls who hate it if their hair is cut even an inch more than promised. My hair is very dry, wavy and frizzy. Plus, I can’t live without a blow-dryer. Even on weekends and days when I’m not in a rush, I prefer to blow-dry hair on a hot mode. And naturally, all the excessive heat takes a toll on my hair, and it becomes very prone to breakage, split ends, dullness and all the bad adjectives that you can cook up for bad hair. Oh, and my hair breaks a LOT. So on my last visit to TBS (which I feel is my second home these days! I visit them soooo often!), I finally ventured to the hair-care section and thought of buying the Rainforest conditioner. Then my eyes rested on this jumbo jar of hair butter! Considering the fact that I already had some regular conditioners stocked up at home, I thought of buying the hair butter instead. I’ve been using it for a month now. How was it? Check out!

Ingredients and Directions for Use: This one contains pracaxi oil and manketti nut oil. Hmmm…what are they? My little research reveals that Pracaxi oil is a precious oil derived from a nut that grows in rainforests of Amazon forests in South America. It contains the highest amount of behenic acid, which happens to be absolutely amazing for hair and skin. Manketti nut oil is also known as Mongongo oil, and is found in African rainforests, and is rich in fatty acids and protects skin and hair from UV rays of the sun. All sounds amazing! The tub claims that you need the product in the quantity of 2 hazelnuts.

Packaging: This hair butter comes in a wide mouth tub, very typical of TBS products. I love it though, coz it is so very easy to use!

Color and Scent: It is a pure white in color like other conditioners. And I’m crazy about its scent! It’s gorgeous! It really does make me imagine rainforests! Not only greenery..but a hint of sweetness is definitely present..I would define the fragrance as something green, sweet, juicy, leafy and fresh! I know, hard to describe, but I adore it! TBS, I adore you for your scents and you’ve won me again with this one! Sadly, it doesn’t linger very long in my hair…only 3-4 hours maximum. But my hair continues to smell fresh for the next couple of days.

TBS Rainforest Moisture Hair Butter 5

Texture: It is quite buttery. It looks and feels like a normal conditioner in texture, but on the thicker side in consistency.

Effectiveness: Call it a happy accident, but this stuff really works for my hair! I’ll be very frank with you…before I decided to buy this butter, I went through a few reviews. And this product had mixed ones. Some girls had said that it worked wonders on them, whereas some of them just couldn’t stop complaining about how bad and greasy it left their hair. So getting this was a gamble for me.. My hair is at its worst condition right now..with split ends and frizz. I used it for the first time after using regular L’oreal Smooth Intense shampoo. I took the equivalent of 2 hazelnut sized amount on my palms and massaged it onto freshly washed hair, from which I had squeezed out excess water. After letting it remain for about 5-7min, I massaged my hair with some warm water..and rinsed it off with warm water.

It was not at all difficult for me to get this product out of my hair..nor did it leave my hair feeling sticky, and neither it took gallons of water to wash off.

Then, after blowing my hair dry, I felt some difference. This product made the ends of my hair look quite healthy and a bit shiny! The dollop of icing on the cake was that my split ends didn’t appear as pronounced as they used to!

All these experiences have continued, wash after wash. It has left my hair feeling a lot better, and that is a huge thing for me to say, as I already told you that my hair is in a pitiable condition right now.. I completely loved this product, and what’s even better is that you really need very little bit of it. TBS directs us to use this product once a week..but I use it twice.

FFS Rating: 4.5/5

Price: Rs 1095 for 200ml of product. But trust me, with the tiny amount you need, this tub would last you about 10-12 months very easily.

Shelf Life: You should finish this up within a year of opening the tub

Where to buy: The Body Shop outlets, where else! And of course, you can buy it from TBS online too. You can buy it here.

TBS Rainforest Moisture Hair Butter 1

Pros and Cons:

PROs:

  1. Oh-so-amazing scent (however, scents are a personal choice! Don’t come to me with a dagger if you don’t happen to like it 🙂 )
  2. A very effective conditioner and moisturizer for dry, frizzy, unmanageable hair
  3. Makes the hair look and feel healthier, with a healthy shine
  4. Makes my split ends look better
  5. Free of parabens, silicones, colorants
  6. A teeny-weeny amount is needed. A tub would last you almost a year
  7. Contains precious oils from rainforest nut trees, and honey
  8. TBS has fair trade practices and never tests on animals

CONs:

  1. Would not work on fine hair or thin hair, as it would be too buttery, and might leave hair sticky
  2. Using too much of it might also leave your hair greasy, so do follow the directions mentioned

Repurchase: Yep! I’d love to have this with me forever!

Final Word: Girls with dry, frizzy, damaged hair who need a moisturizing conditioner can definitely try this luxurious hair butter for healthier looking hair. If you have fine or thin hair, then please skip this as it might weigh your hair down. It has these great oils in it, which are known to work well on hair. And the scent takes me to another world! All in all, a great investment for your weekly hair-care regime.
